REVIEW: Bigmoneymakers @La Féline

Saturday night promised to be a great night of indie rock n' roll in what is becoming a favourite haunt for concert-goers and the arty people of Paris. And it kept its promise: the organiser turned DJ put some sleek records, the five lads of Bigmoneymakers performed an awesome show in front of a packed venue and the Russian-ite atmosphere provided by the rule "if you wear a chapka, you get free vodka" was enough to sanctify the evening.

At High And Loud, we now know that you have to come early to be able to enjoy a BMM gig from inside the venue- which is better in these freezing days. Which is what we did, enjoying a pint of traditional northern ale called the Goudale (yeah, coming from the Englih "good ale") till at 9pm, the band took the stage. The front row was made of twenty-something girls who were not there by chance and seemed to be as much in love with the songs as with the band.

Performing what is now an ideal setlist, the band blasted the little street of Ménilmontant with their tunes Rolls Royce, Not That Hotand New Song , and of course their hit single Tired To Get Fired.

After fifity minutes of sweat and furor; the band left the stage, allowing the DJ to show his talent and his good taste in matters of mod, rock and indie. We stayed there a bit longer, catching the last underground train with what turned out to be one of the worst hangovers we've ever had.  If Paris was London, the Bigmoneymakers would at least be fronting the NME. So what is France waiting for?
